Forex News Trading Tip: How to negotiate the FOMC
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decision on interest rates is one of the most powerful engines on the market in the forex market and when markets move traders in the press have the opportunity to make money.
The FOMC sets the discount rate or federal funds rate and because interest rates are set to induce more foreign investment and therefore fight inflation during times of prosperity and lower to increase spending during recessions they are one of the main factors influencing the strength of the dollar.
Economic indicators play a huge role in the forex trading especially for traders who approach the market through fundamental analysis and trade the news. The Federal Committee Open Market (FOMC) interest rate decision is one of the most influential indicators for the U.S. dollar and may be safe after the news is released, goes to market volatility and volatility is what traders thrive on.
I've heard many "traders" never say to trade and especially, the news of the FOMC. Although the decision of the FOMC interest rate is a story and can fall into the category of using technical and fundamental analysis I think provided that all costs inch letters But I assure you that the market does not know what exactly the comments that the federal and the decision will therefore not have a price of everything and this will cause the markets to react when they do know. This is confirmed by the change in prices after the decision and then on days following.
I have been trading the Fed for eight years now and yes I have been burned in the past and that is exactly how I have come to learn to trade it properly. The most common pattern for the Fed's trade saw the whip. But do not be afraid of him, embraces him. This is how it happens, we must first a large spike in one direction (traders enter and continue in that direction), followed by a large spike in the opposite direction (the same traders now sell its first position a loss and reverse its position - which is when I take a position in the original direction of motion), followed by an extended retreat in the direction of original stem (all trades are emotional upset stomach) and I am having a very good position myself to capture a larger establishment than the average market moving.
If this pattern is not reproduced exactly as directed to stay on the sidelines and not trade at all. Because the markets are moving fast in the period following the FOMC interest rate decision'm seeing a very short period of time, especially the tables one to five minutes.
